About

Hi, my name is Stephanie. I am a PhD student in Regional Planning at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and am currently conducting my doctoral field research in Singapore on a Fulbright Fellowship. Prior to starting the PhD I worked as an urban planning consultant in both California and Auckland, New Zealand. My current research questions have evolved from this experience.

All of my research generally focuses on improving people’s relationship with their environment. I enjoy looking at this from both directions – how people can better support their environment (sustainability), and how the built and natural environment can better support people (environment-behavior studies). Often, I will explore these topics through transnational comparison and try to link them directly to planning practice.

I feel very lucky that I get to study, research, and share knowledge on topics and issues I am passionate about.
